Guillaume CORNEILLE

Guillaume CORNEILLE (1922 - 2010)

Corneille Guillaume Van Beverloo was born in Liège to Dutch parents. He attended classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1940 to 1943 where he met Appel. The teaching there is academic, so that, as Corneille himself recalls, "Van Gogh was taboo and Matisse considered a decorator"; he will seek as soon as possible to work free from all imposed models.
